Not so long ago, my view of travelling is expensive. So, I tend to hesitate and say no to my friends when they ask me to travel with them. I often say to them, “I have no budget. I can’t go with you guys, maybe next time?” I have to save first so I could afford to travel with them. I also told them that they should notify me at least six months before the planned travel date so I could prepare myself as well as my pocket.
But, now things have change a way better when I have learned to stop over thinking about money. Money is just a piece of paper that we can earn every day. But the feeling of happiness when travelling with my friends and love ones is not a daily opportunity. Every place I have explored and visited with them gives me a lot of memorable experiences. Those experiences and feelings of happiness cannot be replaced or rather be bought by money.
So, now even if I can be broke for a week or two, I choose to go and have fun with them. But here are some travelling hacks I could share to prevent you from having an empty pocket after your precious vacation.
1. It is a must to set a maximum budget for that certain travel. Never bring extra cash that you might spend without hesitation. But of course bring your ATM card for emergency purposes only. Having extra money in your wallet is way tempting than having your ATM card in it.
2. Bring your own toiletries for most budget hotels don’t provide one. You have to pay for it which is usually overpriced. You can use small bottle containers for your shampoo, conditioner and body shower gel.
3. Bring empty water containers. You can refill it in your hotel for free, which will save you from buying bottled water when you got thirsty from exploring around.
4. Bring biscuits in your bag. This is also ideal to avoid buying food in those overpriced stands. It will help you wait for the meal time that is part of your budget.
5. Make a list of places you and your family wanted to explore. This will save time and money. Choose to visit places that are nearby to each other on the same day.
6. Try to learn the place prior to your visit. Map review is a lot helpful during vacation. This will avoid expensive cab fares.
7. Try to learn and ride local transportation. In this way you can enjoy the place better and save up transportation fees.
8. Plan ahead if you wish to travel by air. Airfares are a lot cheaper when booked earlier. A lot of airline companies offer seat sales way before holidays. You should grab it!
9. Blend with the locals when travelling. Don’t make yourself noticeable. For some tourist spots give different and higher price if they knew that you are not a native.
10. Never allow your mood swings to ruin your vacation. After all, you have shed money for it already. So better to enjoy it to the fullest.
